One of My Fave Hymns . . .
The lyrics are powerful and poetic... I enjoy the illustrative language of this hymn --painting pictures in my head with descriptive, reflective images : )
I'm pretty sure that the third stanza is my favorite --at least, at this point in my life it is. If you happen to be reading, leave a comment saying which verse is your fave... just for fun and only if you want to : )
Oh Love That Will Not Let Me Go
O Love that will not let me go,
I rest my weary soul in thee;
I give thee back the life I owe,
That in thine ocean depths its flow
May richer, fuller be.
O light that followest all my way,
I yield my flickering torch to thee;
My heart restores its borrowed ray,
That in thy sunshine’s blaze its day
May brighter, fairer be.
O Joy that seekest me through pain,
I cannot close my heart to thee;
I trace the rainbow through the rain,
And feel the promise is not vain,
That morn shall tearless be.
O Cross that liftest up my head,
I dare not ask to fly from thee;
I lay in dust life’s glory dead,
And from the ground there blossoms red
Life that shall endless be.
If you're wondering about the melody that has tugged at my mind all day, here's a more contemporary version of this song... the melody that I originally heard was the same as this one --only slower, and it was sung accapella by the TMC Chorale (absolutely beautiful) ... but Chris Rice does a good job of putting a more upbeat spin on it, with a modernistic flavor.

Either way... lyrics... melody... truth... enjoy :-)
Kill the Will...
Lord, this heart was transformed by Your power
Ever growing in Your will
Teach me each and every hour
In the chaos, to be still
Train my heart to yield Your glory
Sort through my heart and make it Yours
Haunt my thoughts --steal my worry
In short, help me comport myself according to Your Word
Never let me stray far from You. . . guard me; keep me. . .
Ever mindful of my Lord
Free my mind from tiring tirades
Open my heart --these eyes-- to the love that You have shown
Reach me when I don't desire, that which my soul craves the most
Order my steps that I may follow You closely
Nothing, You tell me, can snatch me from Your hand
Let me, in my present weakness, boast
Yet, do so only that I might revel in Your strength and perfect plan
Yes, from the start my heart was bent on turning from You, God
Oh, but Lord, turn my heart from yearning for these frauds
Unruly as my heart may be, Father mold it, now, anew. . . and. . .

Blog Appreciation Day
Well... don't be alarmed... if you've never heard about it then that's prolly due to the fact that I... just made it up :-P lol
Really, any day can be a "blog appreciation" occasion --if you happen to come across a blog (randomly, in my case) that you really appreciate : )
Here's my contribution to "Blog Appreciation Day" ;-) ... http://www.blakeyblog.com/about/
This blog is seriously rockin my morning... I came across it "accidentally" while I was googling some lyrics to a worship song... and when I arrived on the blog page, my intentions were to copy and paste and continue my web-browsing. Something about the writing, though, caught my eye... and as I browsed a couple of the blog posts, I was pleasantly surprised to discover that the blogger is a TMC alum (!!) who now lives in Orange County. She graduated under the teaching of the biblical counseling program here at Master's --which is not only way cool, but also attests to a degree of reliability and credibility that I struggle to grant to most so-called "Christian" sources.
To read some of her posts has been simply refreshing and totally encouraging to me (in several ways)... I haven't seen everything, of course, but I thoroughly enjoyed browsing some of the posts listed along under the side header labeled "Posts I Like" --good stuff!
Anyway... a bit of randomness to begin my day...
God is so cool like that... providing opportunities that only HE could orchestrate : )
Thanks, Lord!
And now I'm heading off to class...
~Jess~
